Steps for removing the entire dashboard of the Citroën DS3 2009-2016
The dashboard of the Citroën DS3 is held to a tubular crossbar system on which the air conditioner and the steering column are also fixed. For dismounting it from car, you need to remove the whole assembly [crossbar + dashboard].
Note well the below steps then proceed as shown in our tutorial further below:
Once all crossbar bolts are visible, you can unscrew them and take off the Citroën or DS DS3 dashboard as explained below.
Some connectors will still be to be disconnected from the backside, once you pull out the dashboard enough to be able to access them from behind.

- Disconnect the battery
- Remove side panels underneath the dashboard
- Remove fuse box cover and horizontal covers beneath the fuse box and the glovebox
- Remove the armrest and central console around the handbrake
- Remove airbag, column steering trims and steering wheel
- Remove side dashboard panels to uncover the side bolts of the cross bar system
- Remove whatever in the central part of the dashboard, to uncover the central bolts of the cross bar, and for being able to free the air conditioning unit: LCD display, A/C controls, Car stereo, buttons assembly, etc.
- Remove the instrument panel, A/C sun censor and tweeters for disconnecting their wires
- Dismount the OBDII connector, headlights beam adjustment button, ESP disconnection button, etc. to the left of the steering wheel
Once all crossbar bolts are visible, you can unscrew them and take off the Citroën or DS DS3 dashboard as explained below.

The side panels of the Citroën DS3 are held in place by the means of one Torx screw.

Armrest and console removal on the Citroën and DS DS3
With your hand, pull out the decorative trim of the console.
Take off the car stereo.
Dismount the plastic trims under the armrest and around the handbrake.
Remove the armrest fixing nuts using a ratchet handle, take it off and pull out the central console as well.
Dismount the A/C controls and their supporting box, which also includes the storage area behind the gearbox lever.

Using plastic trim removal tools, carefully pull out the decorative trim of the dashboard.
Similarly and with the same tools, pull out the decorative trim around the instrument panel then unscrew and disconnect the latter.
Keep everything you remove out of the DS3 dashboard safe and away from your woking area, you don't want to accidentally break any of these!

Unscrew and remove the LCD display and disconnect the A/C sun sensor and the tweeters.
They all can be removed from the top of the dashboard with the plastic trim removal tools.

Unscrewing of the tubular crossbar system and removal of the dashboard on the Citroën or DS DS3
Slacken then remove all bolts that hold the crossbar behind the dashboard to the car chassis.
Also remove the bolts that hold the air conditioning unit of the DS3 to the cross bar, and the ones of the steering column as well.
The last bolt to be removed is the unique one that fixes the crossbar to the floor of the car.
You can do so now, but you will notice there's an extension of the crossbar which connects the main crossbar tubular system with the car floor, leave this extension in place, do not unscrew its bolts for now.
Also remove the bolts that hold the air conditioning unit of the DS3 to the cross bar, and the ones of the steering column as well.
The last bolt to be removed is the unique one that fixes the crossbar to the floor of the car.
You can do so now, but you will notice there's an extension of the crossbar which connects the main crossbar tubular system with the car floor, leave this extension in place, do not unscrew its bolts for now.
Now proceed as follows:
Cover the gearbox lever plate with duct tape to protect it from scratches
Tilt the entire dashboard to either side, enough to be able to look behind it and disconnect wire harnesses and electric connectors on both sides of the vehicle.
This is why the bottom "leg" of the cross bar must be there at this stage.

The dashboard can't be pulled out of the vehicle unless the steering wheel and the stalk assembly behind it have been removed.

You can now unscrew and remove the bottom leg of the dashboard and ask for help since you need to be two for this operation.

You now have the necessary access and space for working on whatever behind the dashboard and depending on the purpose of your intervention.
