NOTE: Brake drums of a Dacia / Renault Duster are shown here but replacement of brake shoes is identical or similar on almost all Dacia models, in particular on Sandero, Dokker, Lodgy as well as many Peugeot, Citroën and Renault vehicles.
Removing the brake drums on a Dacia or Renault Duster
Slightly slacken the rear wheels bolts and block the front wheels prior to lifting your Duster SUV.
Lift the vehicle and secure it on two or more jack stands.
Do not attempt to replace your brake shoes without a jack stand, this is a mandatory safety procedure for working beneath a car, even when being partially underneath it.

Unscrew the two bolts that hold the brake drum to the wheel hub, then release your hand brake.

Generously spray some WD40 on the center of the brake drum, then hit it with a 3Kg hammer using a piece of wood in between.
DO NOT HIT THE DRUM DIRECTLY WITH THE HAMMER.
Do so on all of its perimeter, you do not need to hit too hard, rather hit it several times in different places.

Patiently, use a large screwdriver or small crowbar to take off the drum by inserting the tool between the drum and the back steel plate of the wheel hub and applying a force each time while repeating the same all over the circumference of the drum.

Replacing rear brake parts on Dacia or Renault Duster
You may now proceed with the replacement of the rear brakes cylinders or shoes depending on the purpose of your intervention. It is strongly advised to replace both at a time including all accessories.
