Once done, proceed with the following checks:
- springs are parallel
- brake shoes are well fitted to their fixing plate at the bottom and to the hydraulic cylinder at the top
- the washers which hold their fixing spring to the pin are well oriented compared to their pin (90 degrees).
Before refitting the drum, try the drum and make sure there's no gap left with the brake shoes, or else, use a screwdriver on the automatic adjustment mechanism to pull away the brake shoes in a manner to eliminate the gap.
The drum must go in while touching the brake shoes and with some difficulty.

Important note specific to the Dacia or Renault Duster, concerning the hand brake
On the Dacia Duster, you need to dismantle the rear plastic console for accessing the hand brake mechanism inside the car, and attach the hand brake cable to the handle with cable ties as shown.
If you don't do so, your hand brake cable could simply slip out of the handle while removing or installing the brake shoes.
You can still intervene inside the car any time and fix it, but keep in mind that you will need to do so anyhow.
