Slackening the transmission shaft nut (hub nut)
You need to carry out this operation before lifting the vehicle.
Use a large slotted screwdriver to hit on the deformed circumference of the hub nut in order to try making it as much circular as possible.
No need to bring it back to a perfect circle, just reduce the depth of deformation.
Use then an extended ratchet handle and socket to loosen the driveshaft (drive shaft) nut as shown in the picture to the right.
You will need to apply full force with your foot or even stand on the ratchet handle.

Remove the bolt that holds the lower suspension arm (triangle) ball joint.
Use a hydraulic or lozenge jack to lift the wheel hub under the disc brake by placing a small piece of wood in between.
Lift the wheel hub until the whole car starts to lift, then lower it slightly until it touches again the jack stands and sits safely on them.
Use now a crowbar to separate the ball joint from the wheel hub as shown in the right picture.

After extracting the driveshaft from the wheel hub, pull it out gently out of the differential.
Make sure to do so while taking care not to damage the differential seal in case you do not intend to replace the seal.
