WHAT YOU NEED

• 1 Cup of Basmati rice
• 2 1/4 cups of water
• 4 Table spoons of olive oil
• 1 Tea spoon of turmeric
• Salt
• A good cooking pot and that's it !

• Use any Basmati rice and any cooking pot with a thick bottom plate and a tight cover. 
• Do not wash the rice.
• Put the water in the cooking pot and bring it to a boil with the cooking pot covered.

Once the water starts boiling, reduce heat to the lowest setting of the stove and add:

• The rice
• The turmeric
• The olive oil
• Salt

Use a wooden spoon to gently stir all the ingredients and cover again your cooking pot.

1. Keep the cooking pot covered at all times except when you stir the rice which is required every 5 minutes meaning a couple of times.
2. Cook your rice for a total of 17 minutes from the moment you added all ingredients.
3. Once the 17 minutes are over, remove the cooking pot from heat and let it rest covered for another 5 minutes.
4. Do not open the cover during this time.
5. Your rice is now ready.

The yellow Basmati rice is stirred here for the last time after 12-13 minutes.

Serve with fish or chicken and with or without sauce.
