Bleeding a clutch slave cylinder with no bleeding screw (two stops, two clips system)
Prepare the normal brake / clutch bleeding equipment, meaning a short transparent bleeding tube along with a glass jar.
Open the clutch fluid reservoir and top up the level to beyond the "Max" mark.
Use any brake fluid Dot 3 or 4 for the clutch hydraulic system. In some vehicles, the same reservoir feeds both brake and clutch master cylinders in which case you have to use the brake fluid that matches your car and as indicated on the reservoir plug.
Open the clutch fluid reservoir and top up the level to beyond the "Max" mark.
Use any brake fluid Dot 3 or 4 for the clutch hydraulic system. In some vehicles, the same reservoir feeds both brake and clutch master cylinders in which case you have to use the brake fluid that matches your car and as indicated on the reservoir plug.
Now to explain how to bleed a clutch slave cylinder that has no bleeding screw, just a bleeding nipple, I will show how to proceed with the slave cylinder being dismantled from the vehicle.
There are two clips as shown in the picture to the left.

- If the lower one is pushed in, the elbow win which the hydraulic tube is fitted is blocked and can't move.
- If the lower one is pulled out and the upper one is pushed in, the elbow can be pulled out a little which is the bleeding position that will allow the trapped air to exit the clutch slave cylinder from the bleeding nipple
- If both clips are pulled out, then the elbow can be removed out of the slave cylinder
So for bleeding a clutch slave cylinder with no bleeding screw and just a nipple,
You have to perform these actions with the cylinder fitted to the vehicle indeed.
I'm showing the below in my hand for the sake of obtaining clear pictures only.
- Push the upper clip in
- Pull the lower clip out
- Insert a bleeding tube into the clutch cylinder bleeding nipple
- Pull out the elbow to free the trapped air
You have to perform these actions with the cylinder fitted to the vehicle indeed.
I'm showing the below in my hand for the sake of obtaining clear pictures only.
Fit the bleeding tube to the bleeding nipple of the clutch slave cylinder and put the other end in a glass jar.
Set the holding clips as explained above and pull out the part of the clutch cylinder where the hydraulic tube fits.
Let the air go out until only clutch fluid is seen in the bleeding tube with no air or air bubbles.
Push back the cylinder outlet and push in again the lower clip.
