NOTE: The below works occurred on a Peugeot 208 1.2VTi and are common to many popular Peugeot and Citroën models also any car equipment with a no-bleed screw clutch cylinder.
How to access the clutch slave cylinder seal
You need to remove your clutch slave cylinder out of the car for this operation.
- Pull out the metal clip that holds the hydraulic tube, then pull out the tube over an empty can to avoid brake fluid spill.
- Remove the bolts that hold the clutch cylinder and take it out.
- Put it in a metal tray or plastic bucket

Replacing the clutch slave cylinder ring
Take out the rubber bellows with your fingers, this will also release the rod that holds on the clutch cylinder piston on one side and to the clutch fork on the other.
The clutch cylinder piston can now be seen as shown in the right picture.

Put the clutch slave cylinder in a bench vice while taking care not to damage it.
Just roll it in a piece of cloth and do not over tighten the vice.
Use two small screwdrivers to push out the plastic clip that blocks the clutch cylinder piston.
Take out the clamp and the piston as shown in the below pictures.

Pull out the clutch slave cylinder seal with your hand or a small screwdriver.
You need to buy a new piston ring of the same size which means the same external and internal diameters.

Fit the new clutch slave seal with your fingers and make sure the bell shape points as shown.
The groove in the seal is to receive the clutch fluid which is pushed by the clutch master cylinder.
Push the piston into the clutch slave cylinder and reassemble it and refit it to the vehicle by reversing above steps.
