Removing the drive shafts in order to access the shaft seals

Replacing the output differential seals (shaft seals, axle seals)
Use a large slotted screwdriver as shown in the middle picture to tilt the differential seal out of its seat and take it out.

Start by fitting the new differential seal by hand, enough so it holds in place and while making sure it is more or less equally distant from its seat all around its perimeter.
Use any flat thick steel plate or a spanner as shown here below along with a C-clamp in order to push the differential seal into its seat and until the spanner touches the differential body on both sides.

Use a metal ruler to make sure the seal is perfectly in its intended place by rotating the ruler and checking it touches both the seal and the differential body with no gap left on any side.
Do not hesitate to hit on the ruler with a plastic hammer to make sure.

Repeat the same procedure on the opposite differential seal.
A piece of wood has been used to cover the new seal that was fitted first to avoid damaging it with the C-clamp.
