How to replace a quick-connect (push lock) fuel filter

BEFORE YOU START
  • You need a specific fuel connectors tool or you can alternatively use the so-called water pump pliers which I use myself.
  • Some gasoline will come out of the tubes and the dismantled filter. Be careful when disconnecting them or emptying the filter cartridge.

Fuel filter replacement pictorial

1- Fuel filters are located nearby the fuel tank i.e. nearby the right back wheel.

2- You need a metal tray, a training mat, water pump pliers and a new filter.
​
3- The fuel filter can have either a metallic or black plastic casing. Note the arrow which indicates the fuel flow direction.
4- Pull it out of its support but do not pull too much as the length of the fuel tubes is limited.

5- Gently press the white parts of the connector using the pliers while pulling out the tube. You can use a screwdriver as a lever but only in conjunction with the pliers.  
6- Insert the tubes in the new filter and put it in its place. Make sure the tubes are pushed till the end, that the filter holds tight and the flow direction is the same.

7- Empty the old filter not to dispose it with gasoline. Collect the gasoline in a empty jam pot or glass bottle.
8- Plug the filter using the ones of the new cartridge before disposal.
