DAY 3 - CONNECTING THE SHOWER TRAY DRAINAGE
A compact shower tray drainage and a PVC elbow are purchased and tested in the available space.
The drainage pipe is cut to size so the whole assembly fits or almost fits into the rectangle.

The shower tray is then tested and the location of its drainage slightly corrected and marked again on the tiles (right).
The hole is then enlarged again where needed.

Time now to bond the drainage assembly all together.
A PVC cleaner is used prior to the PVC glue then the drainage is bonded to the ex-bidet drainage pipe (right).

DAY 4: INSTALLING THE TOWEL DRYER
If you had joined this tutorial from part 1, then you noticed that the heating radiator had to be relocated and/or replaced.
In this case, a hot water towel dryer is fixed above the toilet seat and connected to the outlets of the radiator. |
Alupex tubes are used to connect the towel heater and laid prior to fixing the shower tray as shown below:
DAY 5: FIXING THE NEW SHOWER TRAY
Two different compounds are used here:
- A silicone sealant (left) to ensure the water tightness of the hole in the floor tiles, also below and above the shower tray drainage gasket in a manner to cover it completely as a double safety to make sure it won't leak at all.
- A fixing glue so-called "montage glue" for fixing the shower tray to the floor tiles (middle and right).
The fixing glue is disposed on the tiles and joints as shown on the left then the shower tray finally pressed on to the floor.
After making sure of its orientation and that is is well parallel to at least one wall, more weight is applied by standing inside so it safely and solidly sticks to the floor (right).

The montage glue is here clearly visible as it was smashed under the shower tray.
The fiber glass material of the shower tray and the porous nature of the porcelain tiles makes it ideal for a strong bonding.
This was one of the main reasons for choosing a fiber tray and not metal tray.
