  • Be careful not to touch any hot part of the engine, or the body of the filter itself.
  • Wear gloves and goggles during this intervention. Use of solvent like carb cleaner has to be outdoors in a well ventilated area. You should avoid inhaling the carb spray vapors.

NOTE: The below pictures show the throttle body of an 1.2L VTi EB2 PSA Engine but other engine mounts are so similar.
Easiness of access to the throttle body is somehow different between engines and vehicles.

Removing the throttle body

You can dismantle the throttle body from the air collector while the latter is still on the vehicle of course.
In this particular case, it happened that the air collector was removed for another intervention.
To separate the throttle body from the air collector:
  1. Disconnect the electrical connector of the throttle.
  2. Unscrew the 3 or 4 bolts that hold the air throttle body to the air collector. These usually have a female hex head for Allen keys.

Put the throttle body in a plastic container and clean it with carb spray. 
Do not spray the motor, only the metal body of the throttle.
Complete the cleaning process with a dry cloth to make sure all the gum is removed from the throttle.

Add one drop of motor oil on each side of the throttle shaft.
Put the throttle body against the light and make sure it remains open by some little angle as a quick mechanical check.
