Reassembling the gearbox to the Peugeot 1.2VTi engine (EB2)
This pictorial is part of a wider intervention where the powertrain had been removed from the vehicle, the gearbox separated from the engine and clutch replaced with a new one.
The engine - gearbox assembly had been removed without the use of workshop equipment, with simple tools that can be acquired by any DIYer. The cylinder head was removed first to reduce the overall height of the engine and facilitate its extraction from beneath the vehicle.

Simply introduce the gearbox shaft in the clutch and push the gearbox towards the engine.
This is quite easy if the clutch kit had been well centered as shown in the previous pictorial.
Make sure the gearbox body aligns well with the small cylinders on the EB2 engine block (picture to the left) and the stud-bolt near the starter motor (right).
Refit all bolts and nuts and tighten.
Reassemble the starter motor.

Preparing the Peugeot 1.2VTi (EB2) engine for refitting to vehicle
If you do not intend to replace the timing belt of the EB2 engine like this particular case, remove the crankshaft pulley then mark and remove the water pump drive belt (mark the direction so it is refitted the same way).
Take out the timing cover, loosen the timing belt tightener, then refit the cover temporarily.
This is to facilitate the timing belt refitting to the camshafts when reassembling the cylinder head and timing gear of the EB2 engine.

Protect the engine with plastic film and attach well the film to the engine block not to let any foreign object fall in the engine, especially bolts and tools when you will be refitting the Peugeot 1.2 VTi engine to the car.
Proceed with the refitting of the engine - gearbox assembly to the vehicle, which can also be done without professional workshop equipment, using a mechanic creeper seat and a couple of hydraulic jacks, see further details in the below link:
