The Peugeot EB2 PureTech engine is a compact and light 3-cylinder engine that was launched by December 2011 as a new generation efficient ICE. This atmospheric engine has an indirect injection and a variable valve timing on both intake and exhaust camshafts. It develops a power of 60KW / 82HP and a torque of 116 N.m at 2750 rpm.
All below pictorials are shown on a Peugeot 208 1.2 VTi of the first generation.

Peugeot EB2 engine identification plates

The identification plates of the EB2 engine can be found as follows:
Two of them are constructor's plates that are directly molded in the engine block in between the alternator and the catalytic converter
Another one consists of engraved text in the engine block itself and can be found to the right side of the engine (left side of the vehicle) just under the cylinder head gasket (picture to the right).
A quick identification of the engine name and version is embossed on the cylinder head too and precisely on the exhaust manifold as shown here below:
