You pool, garden irrigation or booster water pump can get stuck between seasons, when left without use for a few weeks. This is normal since corrosion will form between its impeller and the body of the pump, blocking its rotation.
When switched on, you will hear some noise of a stuck electric motor, but the pump won't run and the pump protection circuit breaker might trip.
If this happens to you, proceed as explained below to fix your blocked water pump.

How to unblock a small water pump - fixing a stuck pump shaft
1- Use a medium size slotted screwdriver to pull out the pump's cover. Hit on the screwdriver with a mallet on different places of the cover.
2- Now you need to extract the fan using the same screwdriver. Insert the screwdriver as far as it can go between the fan and the pump and push.
3- Tilt it to extract the fan and repeat the same in different places all around the pump's diameter.
4- Grip locking pliers on the pump's shaft and move it upwards and downwards with little alternating movements until the shaft turns freely.
5- You will feel it rotates rough like a pepper or salt grinder. This is normal and will disappear once the pump is powered.
6- Fit again the fan using your plastic hammer. Replace the fan if broken, spares are available.
