The material you need for converting any glass bottle into a lamp
You will then need:
- the original bottle plug (left) which should be made of plastic. Do not use cork plugs, buy plastic replacements instead.
- a piece of threaded rod for chandeliers along with one nut and a couple of washers,
- the brass accessory shown to the right.
|
|
You also need:
- an E14 lamp socket, the one that holds lamp shades (left)
- a transparent table lamp wire set inclusive of the already fitted plug and switch (middle left)
- a lamp shade (middle right)
- a 4W warm white (2700K) LED lamp (right)
Converting the glass bottle into a table lamp
Drill the bottle plug with a 9.5mm drill bit in order to be able to insert the 10mm threaded rod.
Fit the nut to the rod on the inner side of the plug then cut the rod leaving some 8-10mm of length in order to be able to fit in the brass accessory. Insert the teethed washer in between the plug and the brass accessory.
Take out any remaining piece of label from the bottle using cutters first, then clean any rests with alcohol and a cloth.
Have the transparent wire pass through the brass adapter up to the lamp holder base which is simply screwed in the thread of the accessory.
Connect the wire terminals, assemble the lamp holder and that's it, you just have to push the plug into the bottle!
Note however that for safety reasons, you need to double the insulation of the cable where it touches the brass i.e. when passing through the hole of the brass adapter. You can just strip a piece of cable and use the insulation as a second layer.

Fit the lamp shade and the LED lamp and enjoy your new table lamp.
Different empty bottles with different shades and colors will provide infinite combinations.
