Note: The below pictorial concerns a Solex 34-34 Z1 (34/34 Z1) carburetor found on Citroën BX, Citroën XM 2.0, Peugeot 305, Peugeot 309, Peugeot 505 2.0, Peugeot 605 2.0, etc. Works on other carburetors remain much similar.
Dismantling the carburetor (carburettor)
Stage 1: remove the starter

Stage 2: unscrew and loosen the starter mechanism

Sage 3: remove the throttle
Stage 4: remove the complete starter mechanism and its linkage to the throttle

Stage 5: remove membranes and idle jet
Stage 6: dismantle carburetor body (remove the top)

Stage 7: remove fuel inlet valve and filter
Stage 8: remove all jets
Stage 9: remove the injectors

Stage 10: remove the mixture adjustment screw, you are now done with dismantling:

Carburetor (carburettor) cleaning
Use a Carb cleaner spray as shown below. Work in a open area and within plastic bowls. Spray well the carburetor body and canals. Use compressed air if available to blow all canals and gasoline passages. Continue by sweeping the various parts with a cotton cloth until clean.
PROTECT YOUR EYES - DO NOT BREATH THE CARB CLEANER VAPORS
Jets are cleaned in a glass jar. Soak them in the carb cleaner for a few minutes, shake the jar and blow them. They should be shining like new:

Reverse all above steps. Put some oil on the throttle and starter axles before introducing them into their holes.
Proceed to the carburetor adjustment tip prior to refitting your carb into the car.

Replace all gaskets and membranes and the fuel ball valve as well. These are all found in a dedicated carburetor renewal kit still available in the market.
