How and where to add tweeters to a car
Wondering if tweeters can make any difference to the sound quality in your car and if they are worth it?
The answer is "yes for sure", especially this is one of the easiest and cheapest ways to make a big difference in sound quality in a car.
The tweeters can be installed on any of the front doors or dashboard and require crossovers, which are supplied within the tweeters kit.
If you elect to install the tweeters on the dashboard, click on the below link to see how you can pull out the car radio.
If you decide to fix them on the doors, click on the other link for the removal of the door panel.
The below pictorial is shown on a 2019 Citroën C3, yet the works are much similar or identical on any car.

Connecting the wires of the car tweeter speakers
Having removed the car door panel, find the wires that connect to the existing speaker.
Without cutting the wires, use a wire stripper to strip a small part of the wires insulators.
Use a multimeter to identify the wires, click below for more details.
Simply connect the wires to the input side of the tweeters filter to the bare part of the car door speaker wires.

Connect the tweeter filter (crossover) wire with a white stripe (band) to the wire that gave the "negative" reading and the other one to the wire which returned a "positive" reading with the multimeter switched to the DC Voltage (mV) scale.
Cover the wires with tape.

Fixing the tweeters to the car door panel or dashboard
The tweeter will have to be installed somewhere to the front of the car door, near the dashboard.
Yet, you need to see where to fix the tweeter crossover (filter) inside the door panel in a manner that:
Yet, you need to see where to fix the tweeter crossover (filter) inside the door panel in a manner that:
- There's enough space for it, this is usually available within the armrest mould of the door panel.
- It doesn't interfere with the door handle mechanism or cable
- It can be solidly attached with a cable tie
Refit the car door panel with the tweeter speaker still loose, then peel up the tweeter self-adhering tape protective film, and push it well with force to the car door panel at the exact place where you want to fix it.
Turn on the music and enjoy the sound of your car radio!
Make sure however to go to the car radio settings and to adjust the audio output by selecting a pre-defined music setting or by manually adjusting the bass to "+3" (one third of the scale) and the trebble to "+6" (more than two thirds of the scale, but not the maximum value).
If you chose a pre-defined setting, then the "pop-rock" and "techno" ambiances will usually return the best results after installing car tweeters.
